Convert your Legacy Campaigns to Channels

In the Legacy UI this feature was called Campaigns. In the new UI it is called Channels — the same system, renamed and reorganized. Message-group campaigns also gain a clearer structure through Sub-channel Groups and Sub-channels. This guide explains the new names, how to convert an existing campaign, and how to rebuild one by hand.

No migration needed

You don't have to move anything. Your campaigns are already available in the new Channels menu — just start using them there. (The Legacy UI Campaigns menu is retired in July–August 2026, and the Legacy UI is removed completely at the end of 2026.)

What changed — the names

The most important thing to know is that the pieces were renamed. The underlying items are the same.

Only content messages become Sub-channels

Only content-type messages — the ones you grouped into Message Groups and played inside campaigns — become Sub-channels. Text-type messages (used in Scroll widgets via Message board) are not part of Channels and are being removed from the new UI. Move those to an Internal Datasource instead: Move your Messages to an Internal Datasource.

The settings you used — saturation, order, item shuffle mode, only-play, and screen/tag targeting — all still exist; they now live in the Channel editor under What to play, When to play, Where to play, and the Publish settings.

Convert it in the new UI (fastest)

The quickest way is to let the new UI convert an existing campaign for you. Both of these produce a Channel:

  • Open and save: open the campaign in the new (2.1) Channel editor and save it. It is converted into a Channel.
  • Duplicate: duplicate the campaign in the new UI. The copy is created as a Channel in the same way.

After converting, open the new Channel and check its What to play, When to play, Where to play, and Publish settings, and adjust anything that needs it.

The conversion is permanent (one-way)

Saving or duplicating a campaign in the new UI permanently turns it into a Channel, and from then on you manage it in the new Channels menu — it no longer opens in the legacy Campaigns view. If you still need it in the Legacy UI, wait to convert it until you are ready to switch over.

Rebuild it by hand

If you would rather start fresh, build a new Channel from scratch.

Step 1 — Create the Channel

  1. Open the Channels menu and click the + button next to the Channels header.
  2. In What to play, choose your source — Contents/Slides/Playlists, Images/Videos/PDFs, or a Sub-channel group (see Step 2).
  3. In When to play, set the intervals it should run (this replaces the campaign's Only-play).
  4. In Where to play, select the devices allowed to play it (specific devices, dynamic tags, or a quick filter).
  5. Open the Publish settings to set tags, an advertiser if needed, and enable the Channel.

Step 2 — Recreate Message Groups as Sub-channel Groups

If your campaign used Message groups, rebuild that structure with Sub-channels:

  1. In the Channels menu, open the Sub-channel Group tab and create a group (this is your old Message Group).
  2. Open the Sub-channels tab and create a Sub-channel for each content-type message — each has its own What to play, When to play, and Where to play — and assign it to the group.
  3. Back in the Channel, select that Sub-channel group as the source in What to play.

Step 3 — Display the Channel on your screens

A Channel does not play directly on a device. As in the Legacy UI, it plays through a Channel widget placed inside a Content or Slide:

  1. Create (or open) a Content or Slide and add a Channel widget.
  2. Use Channel tags to control which channels the widget shows (the same idea as the old campaign tags).
  3. Assign that content to the devices that should display it.

Good to know

  • A Channel plays through a Channel widget in a Content or Slide — you assign the content to the device, not the channel itself.
  • One content type per Channel. A single Channel can't mix media files with contents; use separate channels (or Sub-channels within a group) for different types.
  • A Sub-channel only plays on a device if its parent Channel is also allowed on that device.

Result

Your campaigns now live in the new Channels menu, with message groups organized as Sub-channel Groups and Sub-channels. You manage them all from one place, and display them through the Channel widget just as before.
