About Our Samsung Client
JSCore is our unified JavaScript-based client technology, supporting LG, Samsung, and BrightSign platforms under a single codebase. The Samsung client is a key part of this ecosystem, continuously evolving to meet the latest technological advancements.
Key Concepts: SSSP, Tizen, and TEP
SSSP (Samsung Smart Signage Platform) and Tizen are both key components in Samsung's digital signage solutions, but they serve different purposes:
- SSSP (Samsung Smart Signage Platform): A built-in digital signage solution in Samsung displays, removing the need for external media players.
- Tizen: A Linux-based OS supporting web and .NET applications, offering flexibility for various devices.
What is TEP?
Samsung has introduced TEP (Tizen Enterprise Platform) as the successor to SSSP (Samsung Smart Signage Platform) starting with Tizen 8. This transition required us to develop a completely new app with an updated API.

We now offer:
- A TEP client supporting Tizen 7 and onward
- Continued support for JSCore SSSP, which remains compatible with Tizen 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.5 and currently Tizen 7
Going forward, our goal is to establish TEP as the primary solution for Tizen 7+ devices.

Limitations
- Device Compatibility: If you're unable to locate the model lineup in this article, it's likely that the device is not a signage device from Samsung, and therefore may not be compatible with Wallboard. Specifically, Commercial and Hotel TV devices are not compatible with the Wallboard application. Only devices recognized as signage devices are supported.
- Unique Series Support: Certain unique series like the QMR-T are not fully supported. While these devices may be recognized, features such as touch, dual-screen, and others may not work properly with Wallboard. It's highly recommended to test these specific models before making bulk purchases.
- Screen Orientation Limitations: Samsung devices do not support reversed-type screen orientations. Devices running Tizen 6.5 and below allow for manual rotation settings, whereas Tizen 7 devices feature automatic screen rotation. Keep these differences in mind when setting up devices.

Our Samsung client functions as a full-screen HTML browser with additional capabilities, including:

- CMS Communication: Sync with the Wallboard CMS for content updates.
- System Maintenance: Ensure smooth long-term operation.
A WiFi or Ethernet connection is mandatory for communication with our servers.
