Replace File References
The Replace File References feature allows you to substitute a file across all locations where it's used.
- Replacement is limited to files within the same folder.
Please note that, this will change the file references everywhere and it is permanent.
Why Use File Replace?
- File Replace streamlines file management by allowing you to update or swap files seamlessly without manually editing every reference.
- By preserving tags and validity during replacement, you do not have to manually add them to the file.
- Additionally, the ability to remove the original file after replacement keeps your workspace clean and prevents keeping unused files.
Please note
Replacing the file will result in a new ID being used in the contents, so proof of play data after the replacement will be associated with the new file.
- If the original file is removed, all proof of play data related to that file will be deleted along with it.
Where can I find the Replace File action?
- Navigate to Files
- Right-click on the file you want to replace.
- Select Replace file from the context menu.
- Choose the replacement method:
Upload and Replace
You can upload a new file to replace an existing one, but only in non-shared folders.
- The new file will inherit the original file's tags and validity.
- All existing references will update to use the new uploaded file.
- Uploading new files is disabled in shared folders, but replacement using existing files is still allowed.
Replace with File from Files
You can also replace a file by selecting another file that already exists in the same folder.
- The selected file will inherit the tags and validity of the original.
- All references to the original file will now point to the replacement.
- This option works in both regular and shared folders.
Remove Original File (Optional)
Enable Remove original file if you want to delete the old file after replacement.
- When enabled, the original file will be deleted after replacement.
- This helps keep your workspace organized and free of unused files.
Final steps
- Choose the replacement file.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
