Device Volume Actions

Device volume actions allow you to temporarily control the audio output level of devices playing your content. These actions provide dynamic volume adjustment capabilities for interactive content, presentations, or scheduled volume changes.

Overview

There are three types of device volume actions available:

  1. Increase device volume - Raises the current volume by a specified amount
  2. Decrease device volume - Lowers the current volume by a specified amount
  3. Set device volume - Sets the volume to a specific level
Temporary Volume Changes

All device volume actions create temporary volume changes. When the content is refreshed or unassigned from the device, the volume automatically returns to the original device setting configured in the device settings.

Increase Device Volume

Increases the current device volume by a specified amount.

Increase Device Volume

Configuration

Action type: Increase device volume

Volume increase: amount

  • Enter the amount to increase the current volume
  • Value represents the increment to add to the current volume level
  • Example: If current volume is 5 and you set increase amount to 3, the new volume will be 8

Decrease Device Volume

Decreases the current device volume by a specified amount.

Decrease Device Volume

Configuration

Action type: Decrease device volume

Volume decrease: amount

  • Enter the amount to decrease the current volume
  • Value represents the decrement to subtract from the current volume level
  • Example: If current volume is 10 and you set decrease amount to 4, the new volume will be 6

Set Device Volume

Sets the device volume to a specific level.

Set Device Volume

Configuration

Action type: Set device volume

Volume level (0-15)

  • Enter the target volume level
  • Range: 0 (mute) to 15 (maximum volume)
  • Sets an absolute volume level regardless of current volume
  • Example: Setting volume level to 8 will change the volume to 8, whether it was previously 3 or 12

Triggering Volume Actions

Volume actions can be triggered by various events:

Touch Actions

Add volume actions to interactive widgets like buttons or shapes:

  • Tap to increase/decrease volume
  • Long press to mute/unmute
  • Swipe gestures for gradual volume control

Time-Based Events

Schedule volume changes based on time:

  • Lower volume during specific hours
  • Increase volume during peak viewing times
  • Create timed volume profiles for different parts of the day

Sensor Events

Trigger volume changes from sensor inputs:

  • Proximity sensors to adjust volume when users approach
  • Light sensors to reduce volume in bright conditions
  • Custom sensors for environmental control

Page Change Events

Adjust volume automatically during content transitions:

  • Set volume when entering specific pages
  • Reset volume when exiting interactive sections
  • Create smooth volume transitions between pages

Important Notes

Temporary Nature

  • Volume changes are not persistent
  • Original device volume is restored when:
    • Content is refreshed
    • Content is unassigned from the device
    • Device is restarted
  • To set permanent volume levels, use device settings

Device Compatibility

  • Verify that your devices support volume control
  • Some devices may have limited or no volume control capabilities
  • Test volume actions on target hardware before deploying content
