Preparations to start a wayfinding project

This documentation contains a list of necessities, before you start a wayfinding project.​

IMPORTANT

Using this widget requires advanced graphical skills and a deep understanding of data sources.
Please note that this widget is designed primarily for custom projects and does not come with standard support.

THERE ARE SOME PHRASES WE CAN GO THROUGH WITH THE PROJECT:

Idea​

You have an idea to make a map about your chosen place. We will ask you a few questions.

Use cases:​

LIBRARY or other COMMON buildings PLAZAS SUPERMARKETS, SHOPPING MALLS INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS UNIVERSITIES or other EDUCATIONAL buildings ZOO MUSEUMS, EXHIBITIONS or GALLERIES HOTEL and SPA FESTIVALS, JOY PARKS, CONCERT VENUE HOSPITALS, RETIREMENT HOMES OFFICES, BUSINESS CENTER SKYSCRAPERS AIRPORT, TRAIN STATION or other TRANSPORTATION buildings PLACE OF REMEMBRANCE, MEMORIAL SITES, BURIAL PLACES STADIUM, GYM, ARENA BEACH, PARK, SKI RESORT RESTAURANTS

If you have an idea that is not in the previously mentioned list, feel free to ask about it.

Map​

If you want a content we will need a map. To make this map, you have two options to send us some valuable information:

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE BLUEPRINTS OF YOUR BUILDING JUST SEND US A SCANNED DRAWING THAT CONTAINS ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION WE NEED.

Blueprint​

There are two types of places that we will need to make a map:

MLOC - interactive places MNOINT - informative places

For example:

  • places that the people can visit
  • rooms where they can go
  • toilets
  • staircases
  • parking areas
  • ATMs
  • shops
  • interesting sites
  • benches or resting places
  • upper floors if you have
  • garages if you have

If there are another interactive or informative places that are not contained in the
previously mentioned list, feel free to draw it onto the map.

2D / 3D​

We can make 2D and 3D maps into your content, so you can choose which one is more reliable to your Wayfinding project.
Any specific request may be accommodated through further discussion.

Until we work on the map, you can fill the necessary JSON file.

JSON​

To make your content, we will need a detailed JSON file, that contains every single information what you will see In your Wayfinding project.

Create JSON​

If you begin to write your JSON you have to go to our editor, and make a TABLE STRUCTURED INTERNAL DATASOURCE.
Please make sure the name you give to this datasource is indicating the project.

SETTINGS >> DATASOURCES >> INTERNAL DATASOURCE >> ADD NEW >> STRUCTURE TYPE: TABLE

When you edit the JSON, please use more often the CTRL + S or the SAVE button to prevent further inconvenience.

Necessities​

Unseen   >> people wont see it
Seen 	 >> people will see it


id 		      >> unseen	>> this is the same like title, just with lowercase letters >> ex: giftshop, adidas, marigold
title 	      >> seen	>> name of the interactive place >> ex: Gift Shop, Adidas, Marigold
description   >> seen	>> what is in this place, what will the visitor see
about 		  >> seen 	>> this will go into the popup (if you have)
short descr.  >> seen	>> shorter description about the interactive place

openhours 	  >> seen	>> (not required but if you have ) openhours of these interactive places
sales         >> seen	>> (not required but if you have)sales/discounts of these interactive places
cautions	  >> seen	>> (not required but if you have) cautions of these interactive places
special sites >> seen	>> (not required ) interesting sites nearby
category	  >> seen	>> to filter the search

logo 		  >> seen	>> (if you have) interactive places with logos
image		  >> seen	>>
video		  >> seen	>>

Tips​

tip
  • TO MAKE YOUR CONTENT MORE ACCURATE TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU WANT TO TAKE IT, YOU SHOULD MAKE PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF THE MENTIONED LOCATIONS, THIS WILL MAKE THE MAP MORE RECOGNIZABLE WHEN THE PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE.
  • If you are not able to make pictures or videos, you can use commercial advertisements instead of them.
  • IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING YOU CANNOT FILL, PLEASE LEAVE THE ROW EMPTY, DO NOT DELETE IT.

If you finished the JSON we need, we send you the map to check everything is ok with it, then we will finalize the JSON with essential details what we use to make the content.

The number of interactive locations:

  • If you have more than 120 interactive locations or more than 6 levels please contact us for further information.

The number of places where you wish to take your device with wayfinding content

What is your expectation / idea with the content?

What kind of device you wish to use to make this content?

What is the orientation of the screen?

What is the size of the screen?

What is the 3 dominant color in the building?

What theme you wish to use in the content?

Do you need an advertisement area in your screen?

Do you prefer 2D or 3D?
