Breaking changes

If you wish to update your previously installed devices to v5.0, first you have to consider the following:

  • If you have 2.x version, you have to update to version 2.21.06.x first

  • If you have a 3.x or a 4.x version you can update from any subversion of 3.x or 4.x to 5.0

  • Alternatively you can update the device from any version manually through the Install application function, or with USB storage!

  • Automatic updates may not work with Android versions 4.0.105 to 5.0.96 if a version limit was previously set.
To resolve this, update to version 5.0.127 or higher using the Install Application option under Devices > Device Settings > Advanced Controls.
To get the URL, go to Settings > Downloads, copy the latest activated version’s URL, and ensure it points to version 5.0.127 or higher.

5.0.774

New features

  • Added support for the Separate WebView option in the Custom widget, so a URL can render in a separate native WebView on the device. An optional custom JavaScript snippet can run after each page load, for example to accept a cookie consent banner.

Improvements

  • Improved network time synchronization so devices move on to the next available time source when one stops answering, reject clearly wrong or unsynchronized time responses, and sync again right after waking up, reconnecting, or reloading content
  • Devices now report their actual firmware version in device information instead of the client app's internal build number
  • Device metrics no longer report the app's own network traffic as zero on devices that cannot measure it

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue on Hikvision devices where the screen came back rotated 180 degrees and stopped responding to orientation changes after waking from a working hours power off
  • Fixed a crash on Android 6 and older devices that happened when the server's certificate was rejected during a secure connection
  • Fixed the pairing screen still showing the old temporary ID after a new one was generated, which happened when the device was deleted from the server or left unregistered for a long time
  • Fixed device previews being uploaded at the panel's full resolution instead of a small thumbnail on ELO and Giada DN84 devices
  • Fixed device previews and high resolution screenshots being uploaded uncompressed on ELO, Giada, Philips, and Vestel devices, which moved several megabytes per upload
  • Fixed a preview that could not be produced being uploaded as a blank image, and preview requests coming from content always reporting success even when nothing was captured
  • Fixed the diagnostic log package downloaded from Qbic players missing the device settings section, which lists the player's time zone, brightness, screen orientation, and reboot schedule
  • Fixed partial media requests from cached content being answered incorrectly, which could send some requests to the network instead of the device's local cache and mishandle video files over 2 GB

5.0.657

  • Added an advanced configuration option to override the device's NTP time server, with automatic fallback to the default time source when it's unreachable
  • Added HDMI input playback support on Giada DN84 devices

Improvements

  • Devices now report each connected screen's physical size (in inches) and refresh rate (in Hz) in device info
  • Improved device preview image uploading to avoid unnecessary retries against the legacy server endpoint when an upload fails
  • Improved screenshot and preview capture on Giada DN84 devices with dual HDMI outputs
  • Improved diagnostic log download speed on non-Qbic devices by removing an unnecessary network call

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a startup crash dialog that briefly appeared on cold boot for devices using scheduled power-off or with attached USB sensors
  • Fixed content failing to load after plugging in a USB mouse, keyboard, or drive, which previously required a reboot
  • Fixed external widgets and embedded pages (such as Power BI) sometimes showing an error screen after a reboot when the network was slow to come up
  • Fixed M5 USB sensors not being detected on non-rooted devices and the resulting app restart loop
  • Fixed a backend crash loop on QBIC tablets caused by a built-in serial port flooding the sensor reader
  • Fixed Giada DN84 devices staying powered on after their working-hours schedule was changed
  • Fixed Giada devices on newer firmware unnecessarily falling back on timezone, autostart, sleep, working-hours scheduling, and native screenshots
  • Improved certificate installation to report accurate results, showing which certificates were installed, already present, or failed instead of always reporting success
  • Restored ProDvx-specific features (LED, screenshot, reboot, autostart) on older ProDvx firmwares that were incorrectly detected as generic devices
  • Fixed Qbic devices reporting a blank serial number, firmware, and model in device management
  • Fixed Hisense devices reporting incorrect volume, brightness, and serial/MAC values when the vendor API timed out
  • Fixed sensor configuration not being applied automatically after a device reboot, which previously required re-saving it manually
