# Home dashboard

Administrators and Super administrators arrange shared dashboard widgets for a customer's operational starting page.

| Capability | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Ownership | Home and Settings use separate layouts for the selected customer. Network uses the network-owner customer; Super administrators use the selected customer's context. |
| Eligibility | Saving requires customer-scope write authorization; read-only accounts cannot persist changes. |
| Customize | Hide removes a widget; Hidden widgets lists restore controls. Restoring places the widget first in its original group. |
| Ordering | Dragging changes order within an existing group. Home and Settings have primary and secondary groups; Network has one. |
| Defaults | No widgets are administrator-hidden initially. Newly added card types append to saved group order; removed types drop out. |
| Save and Cancel | Layout changes save during customization. Done keeps changes and exits; Cancel restores and saves the entry layout. A save failure does not confirm persistence. |
| Session lifetime | Successful saves survive logout and reload on customer selection. Logout clears local state and cancels outstanding saves. |

The Notes panel's layout on Home is also customer-wide. Notes content editing is a separate workflow. Missing widgets can reflect administrator choices, permissions or empty data; restoration does not grant access. Cards cannot move across pages or groups. Settings usage charts remain outside the editable groups. Saving does not change signage playback. Immediate cross-browser synchronization and conflict-free simultaneous editing are not guaranteed.

## Quick access

Quick access is personal, separate from customer-wide widgets. Home, Settings, Network, Analytics and Administrator have separate preferences. Custom Menu, URL and Action shortcuts and Copy from user are available on main Home.

| Capability | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Customize | Hide, restore and reorder; add, edit or delete custom shortcuts. |
| Reset | Built-ins first; clears hidden flags; retains custom shortcuts in relative order. |
| Done / Cancel | Changes save in the background. Done exits; Cancel restores and saves the entry snapshot. |
| Menu / URL | Accessible menu destinations/tabs; named URLs. Open in this tab defaults off (new tab). |
| Edit content | Opens an eligible content editor, including playlists. |
| Edit datasource | Opens writable internal Table/Custom sources. |
| Open device folder / Open content folder / Open file folder | Opens a configured folder or Quick Filter and view. |
| View Proof of Play | Applies saved report settings, including interval and chart choices. |
| Open channel | Opens a writable channel/sub-channel editor. |
| Create content / Create schedule | Opens the existing creation flow. |

Actions require destination permissions and their original customer. Target-based actions validate availability when clicked. Read-only users can save personal preferences without gaining write-action access.

Copy from user lets eligible administrators copy selected custom shortcuts from another same-customer user. Copies are independent and omit source layout/visibility; they do not stay synchronized. During impersonation, Save to user persists approved preferences; local preview does not.

Missing shortcuts may be hidden or unavailable; Customize quick access reopens a collapsed strip for editing. Save errors leave persistence unconfirmed; immediate cross-browser synchronization is not guaranteed.

## Notes content on Home

Notes holds shared guidance for the selected customer's users. Administrators and Super administrators with customer-scope write access maintain it; other users can read it when Home is accessible and the card is visible. The default title is Notes; an empty card remains visible with No content yet.

Open editor edits the card title and body. Headings, lists, links, tables, images, file links and YouTube embeds can support instructions. Save submits the content draft; Cancel discards that draft. Expand editor provides more editing space without changing the saved card size. Customize manages the shared card's layout and visibility separately from content editing.

Save updates the local view and closes the editor while persistence completes in the background. A save-error message means persistence was not confirmed; displayed content can differ after reload. Concurrent saves can overwrite other customer metadata changes. Successfully saved Notes loads with the customer's metadata on customer selection. The card presents written guidance for people to follow.
